Food, Glorious (French) Food!

Up to now, the most impressive thing about French food has been the prices. However, at L'Epicerie (The Grocery Store, which apparently the building used to be) in Amboise, we finally had real French cuisine complete with all the butter, the sauces, and the artful presentation--and of course, the price! I had escargot and Tim had oysters as a first course.

For my entree, shrimp in a lovely sauce served over baby lima beans with vegetables-en-crout, assorted steamed vegetables, and a lovely sweet potato puree. Tim had filet of trout, served with a cream sauce plus rice pilaf, steamed vegetables, and sweet potato puree.

We rounded out the meal with assorted cheeses, creme brulee, and cognac. C'est magnifique! And so was the bill!
