Thanks to Serge, our host in Pignans, we saved a couple of hours by not battling the traffic to St. Tropez and the battle for a parking place. We took the ferry from Ste. Maxime across the Bay of St. Tropez to arrive by water. Here I am on the ferry waiting to launch.
A view of Ste. Maxime was we depart.
St. Tropez has quaint streets full of fancy shops.
Selling high fashion!
And haute design for the home!
And of course, St. Tropez boasts yachts in all sizes!
The lesson I took away from the harbor at St. Tropez is this: Just when you think you are piloting a nice boat, someone always comes along with a bigger boat! I think this is applicable to life as well!
The beach at St. Tropez was as advertised--wonderful and very "Riviera." Plage Pamplonne is a 6 km golden sand beach with beautiful people everywhere. And of course, more yachts!
Lunch at Club Ocoa on Pamplonne beach consisted of some lovely shrimp, a bottle of cold rose, and a little chocolate for dessert. The price? Only $270 US. Well, it is St. Tropez, after all. The only problem--the price was so shocking I forgot to take a picture of the food!
Our assessment of St. Tropez: too hot, too many sweaty tourists (including us), and too expensive for what you get. The only famous people we saw were photographs of famous people on the outside of The VIP Lounge, which billed itself as "Club Famous." Since our photos were not on the wall, we kept moving. All in all, St. Tropez is tres overrated!
